Tervetuloa Leevi!

Tätä uutista on odotettu kauan: meidän pikkuinen poikamme näki päivänvalon ensi kertaa 29. syyskuuta. Eli huomenna hän on jo kaksiviikkoinen! Aika menee hurjaa vauhtia (paitsi aamuöiden loputtomat tunnit) enkä millään ole ehtinyt aiemmin kirjoitella. :D

Our son, Leevi, is finally here! He was born on 29th of September and is almost 2 weeks old now. Time seems to be flying now (except those long hours between 2am and 7am) and I haven't had time or energy to write earlier.

As you can imagine these past days have been full of new things, as our previous childcare experience was zero. Everything from changing diaper to sterilizing dummies is new and exciting. Wolfi seems to be natural with the baby though, singing and dancing around with him. :) One thing that we have already learned is that you cannot plan anything with a baby; if he slept the whole day yesterday, it definitely does not mean than he would do the same today. After a "well"-slept night (at least four hours of sleep, preferably in one piece) I feel very confident that we can do this, but after not so good night I would like to go to the hospital and ask them to put the baby back in my belly. Unfortunately the famous mother hormones did not quite find this address, at least what comes to the ability to function normally with less than 8 hours of sleep every day. My patience and performance suffer greatly from the lack of sleep; the biggest looser so far has been my German skills, which are almost non-existent now.

But don't get me wrong, even though the new life with a baby has surprised me with its harshness (now I get the cliche "you cannot prepare for it"), it is so amazing to think that this world's cutest little boob sucker came from us. So far one of the cutest things to watch is Leevi's after-nap stretching sessions and the face expressions that belong to it. For a few days now, he has also been awake quite a lot, viewing the big wide world with his dark button eyes. <3

What comes to the birth, I'm not sure if I'll write more detailed birth story, but one thing I can say: the birth plan found it's true purpose as toilet paper. So I cannot confirm the saying "well planned is half done". :P
